Iran is one of many countries that makes up the Middle East and is an Islamic republic located on the Persian Gulf. It is a fascinating country steeped in history and tradition, and blow we are going to enlighten you on every aspect of Iran and why it holds a special place in many people’s hearts.
History of Iran
There have been many artefacts discovered during archaeological digs and projects in Iran that have dated its community and existence back to around 200,000 years BC. In fact, in the in the Zagros region Neanderthal artefacts have also been discovered.
It was around the 8th to 10th Millennium that the very first agricultural communities have been believed to have started and as such it is one of the oldest communities based in that region of the world.
The Median Empire has been proven to have started din Iran in 678 BC which was following by the Achaemenid Empire in 550 BC. Later on the Sassanid Empire was formed in 224 AD followed by the Safavid Empire in 1501.
Iran became an Islamic Republic on the 1st of April 1979 and its current constitution was formed on the 24th October 1979, and there was a constitution amendment on the 28th of July 1989.
Languages and Religions
There are many different spoken languages in use in Iran and those languages include Persian, Azerbaijani, Kurdish, Lurish, Semnani, Gilaki, Mazandarani, Tati, Turkmen, Arabic, Baloch, Talysh, Georgian, Armenian and Neo-Aramaic.
The official religion of Iran is Shia Islam. However, there are several other recognised religions which include Sunni Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism

The population of Iran is estimated to be around 78,000,000 million and the currency of Iran is the Rial. The Capital city in Iran is Tehran which is also the largest populates city in Iran.
